I painted the top one several years ago when I was a graduate student in Florida, it was on a piece of very large canvas, and I did paint the painting on site! I spent 4 half days, driving back and forth to the wood on the same time each day. The bottom one is an abstract version of the same scene I painted later in my studio, but I was trying to paint the poetic side of the nature, I tried to paint what I feel and what really touched me when I standed in the wood. I remember how excited I was when I done the painting becase if did reflect my mind view of the wood. It has been one of the few of my favorite abstract paintings I have ever done. Back several years ago, I determind that I will be an abstract painter and I do paint LOTS abstract paintings, now you see..:-). Click the image for larger view.
